Hello there, readers! While I try to keep this a food, nutrition and wellness related blog, I can’t help but share some exciting news.
On Sunday night when I got home from a long day of work, Funk had a delicious dinner waiting for me (so it is food related after all!). I was so exhausted I told him if he hadn’t cooked, I would have slept right through dinner. It’s a good thing I didn’t because after we ate, my amazing boyfriend of four and a half years PROPOSED!!!!!!! And of course I said the one answer I have known I’d say to him for years: YES!

Fiancée Funk and I spent the night spreading the good news to family and friends, screaming, “We’re engaged!” at the top of our lungs outside to our neighbors, and toasting with champagne. We couldn’t be happier!
Note the hot pink dress I’m wearing in the photos? I don’t usually dress up for dinner in theapartment, but I just bought the dress and was trying it on to show Funk when he got down on one knee! I can’t think of a better way to end an incredible year and start a new one.
People have recently told me they didn’t know “Funk” was actually his last name, and not a nickname I used for the blog. So I guess now is a good time to clarify! When Aaron and I tie the knot, I will officially be Mrs. Funk. Hooray!!!
Now we’re gearing up to spend a long weekend and New Years with friends in New Hampshire and are looking forward to celebrating many great things with them. So, readers, I’ll be back on the blog in 2010 and wish you and yours a very healthy, happy New Year. I look forward to sharing many more posts with you in the years to come!
If you’ve been a Dine Dish Delish follower, you may have noticed I don’t post a lot about pasta. I’m not a passionate pasta eater, save for a serving of gnocchi here and there or a summer pasta salad. I just prefer to go with other grains. So the other night when a craving hit
Last night I got a sweet surprise in my email: I won a writing contest! Yahoooo! The contest was sponsored by bistroMD.com and the content of the essay was based on the prompt: Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, said, “Let food be thy medicine…” What does this mean to you? I took a crack
On Saturday night, despite warnings of a blizzard (seriously, New England, that’s a bit dramatic), Funk and I decided to check out Newton, MA’s raw food restaurant, Prana Raw. I’ve been wanting to try it for months, but they just opened for dinner making it that much more feasible for us to go. So we
Thanks to all the readers who have told me that it’s kabocha squash…not kombucha squash. I also thought it was funny that the squash and fermented beverage shared the same name, but I was wrong! From here on, you can just pretend I wrote kabocha…not kombucha. Whoops! Lately I’ve been seeing a squash trend on
Happy 7th day of Hanukah! I don’t know why, but I just didn’t have it in me to make potato latkes from scratch this year. All that grating and frying and hair smelling like fried food for weeks (that smell does not go away) just didn’t pique my interest. So Trader Joe’s to the rescue…I
As soon as I saw this recipe for Indian Lentil Pilaf from Vegetarian Times I knew I had to make it…stat. I love love love Indian food and Funk feels the same way about lentils so it was a no-brainer. However, the night I planned on making the meal, Trader Joes was out of their
