Equal Exchange Gift Basket
I’ve professed my love for Equal Exchange products before (what’s not to love about high quality organic products that support small farmer co-ops and use sustainable farming practices?) and this time it’s no different. I received an adorable Good Morning gift basket (love the square basket, BTW) with some EE dark roast coffee, Breakfast Blend black tea, and a duo of ginger molasses cookies. Funk is excited about our new coffee stash, and I’m excited to have some loose, large leaf tea bags. I got hooked on loose leaf tea ever since my pal Annelies would send me samples of Mighty Leaf. And even though I’ve cut my caffeine intake down to almost zero, it’s nice to have a stash on hand for those super sleepy mornings.
But what I really want to tell you about is the ginger molasses cookie. Let me start by saying I don’t (ahem, didn’t) like ginger. It is one of the few foods I’m not a fan of and regularly try to adapt my taste buds to like it more. But one bite of these cookies and I’m a changed woman. They’re ginger-loaded and they’re vegan! I couldn’t believe it either when I took my first bite of the sweet, soft, tastes-like-it-just-came-out-of-the-oven cookie. It melted in my mouth. It was so good. I rationed it out throughout the week and was secretly glad that Funk doesn’t have a major sweet tooth. The one teeeeensy complaint I have about these cookies is that they do have a few hunks of crystallized ginger sprinkled on top. I brushed them off and ate my sweet, spicy, ginger snapdragons in complete bliss. These cookies by Liz Lovely are made in Vermont. I wonder if I can stalk her and her cookies when we go in December…
With the holidays coming up, I strongly suggest you treat someone you love (even if that someone is you) to one of these great gift baskets from Equal Exchange. The Fair Trade gifts are assembled by hand, and help small scale farmers build a better life at the same time. They come so nicely packaged (with recycled packaging and filler!) with a custom gift card with your personal message. There are a variety of gift baskets to choose from, some with chocolate bars and hot cocoa.
Eat Well with Janel readers get a special coupon for free shipping for gift baskets on the online store through the end of November. The coupon code is freegiftship.
You can also enter to win one of 10 Good Morning Gift Baskets and experience these amazing cookies yourself! And the coffee and tea, too, of course. A chance at winning for you…some gift ideas for loved ones…and helping farmers at the same time. Everyone wins! But you can’t win if you don’t enter, so go! Go!
