Updates and a Barney Butter Winner!

Just dropping by the blog before the weekend kicks off to share with you a few little nuggets:

If you’re looking for some DIY food gifts to make this holiday season, click on over to the Food Network’s Healthy Eats Blog for 12 Days of Healthy Holiday Gifts. I contributed with a sweet and spicy spice blend using ingredients you probably already have at home! I thought these bottles of homemade vanilla extract were super cute too. Maybe I’ll add that to my to-do to-make list. I have big plans for some crafty projects – in the kitchen and out – this winter.

If you’re looking for some inspiration on what the heck you’re supposed to be doing with your life, read this article, What Should I Do With My Life? It’s not food related, but it’s good. I love what I do for a living, and am always looking to build and grow and do more. This article was a nice reminder, especially as many of us gear up for the new year filled with all sorts of resolutions and life changes. I especially like this part:

Most of us don’t get epiphanies. We only get a whisper — a faint urge. That’s it. That’s the call. It’s up to you to do the work of discovery, to connect it to an answer. Of course, there’s never a single right answer. At some point, it feels right enough that you choose, and the energy formerly spent casting about is now devoted to making your choice fruitful.

And if you’re looking for the random winner of my Barney Butter giveaway from earlier in the week, it’s Lara. Congrats Lara! Clear out some cabinet space. You’ve got a Barney Butter pack coming your way. I’ll contact you for details!

What’s everyone up to this wintery weekend? We have our friends’ holiday party and a lazy Sunday of football watching with some new friends. I’m hoping to try out some new appetizer recipes that I’ll be sure to share. Stay tuned – next week I may just have a BIG Biggest Loser giveaway!

“What Should I Do With My Life?” is one of my favorite books! I highly recommend reading the entire thing. I read it right after college and again when I was contemplating my career change out of television.

Po Bronson is amazing. I also read another book by him, “Why Do I Love These People?” about families and also recommend it!

Awesome, Lou! I’m going to put it on my library list. Happy weekend! xoxo
