Biggest Loser Book Giveaway: 6 Weeks to a Healthier You
If you know me, you know Biggest Loser is my all time favorite show. I watch season after season getting sucked into heart wrenching stories of contestants who were losing the obesity battle. Sure I’m a huge softie, but this stuff digs deep into my soul and stays there – it’s why I do what I do as a dietitian, hoping to make a difference in people’s health, big or small. Without fail, I cry big heavy sobs at least twice a season, and usually more: the finale, and the episode where the finalists return home. It’s just so emotional! I understand the Biggest Loser Bubble Ranch is not a realistic setting, but I’ve never seen anything – a show, a movement, a program, anything – that gets this many people motivated to get off the couch and improve their health.
I love Biggest Loser so much I follow a few former contestants on Twitter, and was so excited to meet Tara Costa from season 7 at the Food For your Whole Life Symposium back in June. I also consider it “breaking news” that Jillian Michaels is leaving BL after the next season airs. Sad. As much as I love Bob’s “Meditate, don’t Medicate” zen personality, I’d want Jillian kicking my booty into shape in her hardcore, take no prisoners way. And every so often, when I’m feeling particularly fit, I’ll do one of her On Demand ExerciseTV workouts at home, and huff and puff the whole way through. Those workouts are hard!!!
I’m also a huge fan of the BL dietitian, Cheryl Forberg. While she’s never seen on the show, her behind the scene work is huge (pun intended) as she’s the one educating the contestants on how to manage a healthy diet, and eat for weight loss. Along with a few hundred other dietitians, I tried to meet her at the FNCE conference this year, and never got my chance. But lucky for me (and you!) my Amazing Avocado pals gave me FIVE copies of The Biggest Loser: 6 Weeks to a Healthier You book signed by the author and dietitian herself, Cheryl Forberg, to give away. It is full of tips, recipes, exercises, and stories.
