Equal Exchange Chocolate Giveaway!
I’ve mentioned before I’m not a mega chocolaholic – I much prefer vanilla anything. But when a choco-craving hits, I reach for the good stuff. I find the super dark chocolate really nails any craving I have and can stop at just a small bit of it, as opposed to eating eight-gazillion crummy M&Ms. I got used to dark chocolate when I was younger and had developed a milk allergy (so milk chocolate was out), and now I really prefer it and it’s antioxidants. I even love chocolate that is 70% or more cacao – heart health here I come!
Equal Exchange is by far my favorite chocolate. The EE people have been kind enough to send me some to sample in the past and now it’s all you’ll find in my candy stash when it comes to chocolate. So when they offered to send me two of their two new chocolate bars, I wasn’t about to turn them down. Especially when they said the words “caramel crunch with sea salt.” The newest bars of the bunch are Organic Ecuador Dark Chocolate (65% cacao content) and Organic Chocolate Caramel Crunch with Sea Salt (55% cacao content). Both bars, like all Equal Exchange chocolates and cocoas, are fairly traded and organic from small-scale farmer co-operatives. These bars are soy- and gluten-free, and the Ecuador bar is vegan.
The caramel crunch bar is a perfect flavor combo to me, and the crunchy caramel bits contrast with the silky smooth chocolate and mouthwatering sea salt. You know sometimes when you eat something sweet and then crave something salty, and then sweet, and then salty? This nips both in the bud by providing sweet and salty in every bite. The new 65% Dark Chocolate bar is great for those who aren’t quite ready for a 70% or more cacao chocolate bar. It’s sweet and rich and has that slightly sharp aftertaste I love from dark chocolate. I wish you could reach right through your computer screen and get some of your own.
Or…enter to win some of your own. Equal Exchange is offering one of my readers a gift box of six assorted chocolate bars that will get to you just in time for Valentine’s Day! To enter, just leave me a comment telling me what’s your favorite chocolate covered treat. Do you like chocolate covered almonds? Raisinets? Chocolate covered bananas or strawberries? I’ll pick a winner on Friday!
Everyone can get in on the choco-love, though. EE is also offering $5 off a case of Equal Exchange chocolate on their webstore (shop.equalexchange.coop) with the coupon code chocolate5. It expires 2/28/11.
