Busy lives call for easy grab and go snacks. Whether you’re in college, have a full time career, or are a busy stay at home mom, having a healthy granola bar on hand is a great way to give you energy throughout the day. To get the most out of your snack, look for bars with recognizable ingredients!

Ingredients : Mixed nuts (peanuts, almonds, brazil nuts, walnuts), dried fruit (raisins, apricots [apricot paste, glycerol (vegetable based), pectin, citrus fiber, citric acid], dates], honey, chicory fiber, non GMO glucose, puffed rice, flax seeds, soy lecithin.

Why KIND?

I love KIND bars for many reasons… I believe it is important to support brands that are about supporting you. “For us ‘being KIND,’ means to ‘Be KIND to your body, your taste buds, and the world.” (-Kind) The health benefits are found in the simple ingredients, minimal processing, and low glycemic index. A low glycemic index means your blood sugar won’t cycle up and down between meals. I’m also impressed when I can get 50% of my Daily Value of Vitamins A,C, &E in under 190 Cals (in the Cranberry Almond+ Antioxidants bar)! Larabar has a wonderful philosophy! “Larabar firmly believes that the foundation of a sound mind, body and spirit is derived from what you eat. And what you eat is healthiest and most satisfying when it’s in a whole, natural state”. Enough said! Without a laundry list of ingredients and plenty of mouth-watering flavors Larabar is at the top of my list for go-to snacks. Another reason I love Larabar is that it’s gluten free. With an uncle and a close friend with Celiac disease, I am always looking for great gluten-free products. My favorite flavor is Peanut butter and Jelly!

Take me to Nature Valley!

Besides being a readily available bar (found in grocery stores, airports, gas stations etc.), the Nature Valley brand has a project to preserve the national parks. Why is this important? Again, I believe in supporting companies that support issues bigger than themselves. Nature Valley is “helping the National Parks Conservation Association with three preservation projects in thee different parks- Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Biscayne.” The bars are also a great source of whole grains, are inexpensive, and have a satisfying crunch. With two thin bars in one pack it’s like two-for-one!
