Laptop Lunches Bento Birthday Giveaway!
On this day 30 (yowza 30!) years ago, I made my entrance into the world about a month early. What can I say? I guess I was eager to arrive. I kind of love birthdays, and have been celebrating with some of my very best friends all weekend, including two who flew in from DC and Cali just to ring in a new decade with me. I’m so lucky! But in honor of my birthday, I want to give a little giveaway gift to you. Presents are fun for everyone! Do I have any birthday twins out there?
I recently received a bento-type box from Laptop Lunches and love it so much, I wanted to share one with one of you lucky readers as well. What’s a bento box? According to the know-all Wikipedia, it is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat, and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in a box-shaped container.
I’ve been seeing more and more bento box style lunch boxes pop up, and love the little individual compartments that let you pack a variety of fresh foods without them smooshing together. Nobody wants hummus dip swirled with applesauce for lunch. Laptop Lunches are American-style bento boxes designed to help you pack nutritious, eco-friendly lunches. They’re reusable, recyclable, and dishwasher safe and contain NO phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), or lead.
I’m a big proponent of packing lunches, since it allows you more control over the food you eat for your midday meal, which means you’re likely to pack something healthier than the local lunch spot. Whenever I pack lunch, it’s usually a combo of leftovers from dinner the night before, cut up veggie sticks, fresh fruit, trail mix or crackers. I’m that girl who carries around a massive tote for her lunch, since it’s the only thing that’ll fit my multiple snack baggies and Tupperware containers of food. But it’s a little cumbersome. Which is why I’m so excited to now have my own bento box to pack lunch. Here was one of my latest lunch combos:
· Leftover mahi mahi and veggie stir fry
· Brown rice
· Itty bitty mandarin oranges
· And edamame hummus (in the tiny container)
They’re perfect for adults and kids. I was one of those kids who was always leery of school lunch (except on chicken nugget and pizza days in elementary school) and brought packed lunch every single day. The kid-friendly Laptop Lunches are adorable! Adults will like the portion-controlled containers that are non-spill.
