Oldways Conference: Whole Grains – The New Norm
I have exciting news! I was invited by Oldways to blog (and eat) my way through the Whole Grains conference in Portland, Oregon on January 31 – February 2nd. The Whole Grains Council holds a major international conference about every year and a half. I’ll be there with chefs, health professionals, food scientists/writers, and one of my favorite RD friends, Corinne! I’m looking forward to attending some of the amazing sessions, but am eager to hear Jessie Price (editor of Eating Well magazine) and Heidi Swanson, blogger and author, 101 Cookbooks. Eating Well and 101 Cookbooks are two of my main sources for delicious recipes, and I can’t wait to hear the women behind these outlets. And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t most excited about the food they’ll have there. A conference full of whole grain food options!!! How lucky am I!? The conference sponsors alone are some of my favorite food brands: Quaker, Bob’s Red Mill, Lundberg, and King Arthur Flour…it looks like the contents of my kitchen cupboard!
Is anyone else going to this conference? If you’re in the area, or can get in the area, it seems like one you don’t want to miss. Especially if you like talking about, eating, and learning about whole grain and high fiber foods as much as I do.
I’ll be heading to Portland a few days early to see the sights (and as many vegan restaurants as humanly possible in 2 days). Portland is on my list of places I really want to see, so I’m so happy to have this opportunity! If you know of any hot spots I should see or try, let me know.
Once the conference begins, I’ll be blogging all about it so if there is a specific topic, session, or speaker you want me to highlight, give me a heads up and I’ll be sure to take good notes. You can also follow the conference tweets by following the #wgconf hashtag.
Disclaimer: I was not paid to promote Oldways or the Whole Grains Conference, however Oldways is sponsoring my trip and conference. All opinions are my own.
