As a registered dietitian, brand ambassador, speaker, writer, counselor, blogger and consultant, Janel Funk, MS RD LDN, strives to help you reach your nutrition goals, one bite at a time.
Janel’s goal is to help others understand the importance of eating well and leading a healthy lifestyle. She combines these two passions when working with clients, and promotes realistic and reasonable approaches to eating and living well.
Janel works as the college dietitian for The Boston Conservatory where she provides counseling and campus-wide nutrition programming for the student body. She is also a corporate wellness consultant and develops wellness programs for companies, provides nutrition counseling for employees, and gives nutrition presentations relevant to a working professional’s busy life. In addition, she offers personal and practical nutrition counseling for individuals and families.
As a brand ambassador for a variety of food companies, Janel represents products and companies whose values and nutrition principles are in line with her own. Appearing in a variety of online videos, Janel enjoys using her media skills to communicate sound nutrition information, and stars in her own web series with Insiders Health TV called Mission: Nutrition.
An avid social media user, Janel blogs for the Food Network’s Healthy Eats blog and maintains her own blog, Eat Well with Janel, which chronicles her life through food.
Janel’s nutrition expertise includes weight management, vegetarian and vegan diets, family nutrition, meal planning and preparation, sports nutrition, and eating well at work. Her knowledge has been tapped for publications such as Prevention, Shape, Today’s Dietitian, Fitness Magazine, Chicago Tribune, MSNBC.com, and more. Janel was named one of Mamavation’s Top 17 Dietitians You Can Count On in Social Media.
Janel graduated from the dietetics program at Syracuse University and holds a Masters Degree in Nutrition Communications from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which awarded her the 2010 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year in Massachusetts. Janel is an active board member of the Massachusetts Dietetic Association and holds memberships with the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group and the Food and Culinary Professionals Dietetic Practice Group. She is on the Executive Council of Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Alumni Association, and is an active volunteer coach for Girls on the Run International.
